ServicesStorm Damage Repair

Storm Damage Repair in Hawaiian Gardens

When a winter storm or a hard Santa Ana wind leaves shingles on the lawn or tiles out of place, we come out, look over the whole roof and show you what we found. Then we repair the damage properly so your home is dry and sound again.

Putting your roof back in shape after a storm

The piece lying on the lawn is seldom the whole story. Wind slips under one shingle edge and breaks the seal on its neighbors. A dropped branch can crack tiles and the underlayment under them. Rain finds those gaps later, sometimes weeks after the storm. Real storm damage repair means tracking down all of it, not only what shows from the driveway.

We work the way you'd want a neighbor to. We look closely before giving an opinion, explain the findings in plain language, and do only what your roof actually needs. Plenty of storm jobs turn out to be a focused repair. If damage covers most of the slopes, or the roof was close to worn out before the storm, a patch won't hold long. We say so directly and bring up roof replacement as one choice, with no push.

We look for the details that are easy to miss on a storm-damaged roof. We are a licensed roofing contractor, CSLB 1092407 (C-39), and we carry insurance, so your home is covered while we work on it.

What our storm damage repair covers

A full roof walk, not a quick glance

We check every slope, ridge, valley and penetration, plus gutters and the attic where we can reach it. Wind damage often shows up on the side of the house you didn't expect.

Photos of every problem we find

You get clear pictures of each damaged area, so you can see the roof the way we see it. Those same photos help if you decide to file an insurance claim.

Shingle and tile replacement

We replace creased, torn or missing shingles and reseal the ones around them. On tile roofs we swap cracked or slipped tiles and check the underlayment and battens below before resetting them.

Flashing, vents and ridge work

Bent flashing at chimneys and walls, loosened vent boots and lifted ridge caps are common after high wind. We refasten or replace them so water can't work its way in.

Decking and underlayment repair

If water or impact has softened the wood underneath, we cut out the bad sections and replace them before the roofing goes back on. Covering soft decking only hides the problem.

Cleanup and a magnet sweep

Storm debris, old shingles and loose nails leave with us. We sweep the yard and driveway with a magnet before we go.

How to tell a storm hurt your roof

Roofing pieces on the ground
If shingles or tiles are in the yard, something above is open. A single missing piece leaves felt or wood bare to the next rain.
Fresh stains on a ceiling or wall
A brown mark that shows up after a storm usually means water made it through. It may look minor, but wet drywall and insulation get worse with every rain.
Shingle edges raised or creased
From the yard, watch for shingles sitting above the others or showing a fold line. With the seal broken, the next big gust can tear them away.
A limb that hit the roof
Even once the branch is gone, have the spot checked. Cracked tile and torn underlayment often sit under an area that looks normal.
Bent or loose gutters
Strong wind and heavy runoff can pull gutters off the fascia. Water then runs down the wall and can rot the roof edge.

What a storm repair looks like, step by step

  1. 1

    You give us a call

Let us know what you spotted and when the storm came through. We'll book a free roof inspection, and the conversation can be in English or Spanish.

  2. 2

    Inspection and photos

We cover every slope, check the attic where we can get in and photograph each damaged area, then go over it with you in everyday terms. If there's an opening, we cover it so water stays out until repair day.

  3. 3

    Your free written estimate

Each repair is listed on a free written estimate. If you file a claim, we work directly with your insurance adjuster and pass our photos and findings along.

  4. 4

    Repairs and cleanup

We cover plants and walkways, complete the repairs and look everything over before leaving. We sweep the yard and show you photos of the finished roof.

What shapes the price of a storm repair

Storm jobs differ from house to house, so we set the price only after seeing your roof. Each item is listed on the written estimate, so you can follow every dollar.

Amount of roof affected
Swapping a few shingles on a single slope doesn't take long. When damage is spread over several slopes, the job needs more material and more hours.
Type of roofing
Asphalt shingles are usually easier to match. Clay and concrete tile take careful handling, and some older profiles are hard to track down.
What's under the roofing
Soaked or cracked decking and ripped underlayment mean extra work. We can't be sure until the damaged roofing is lifted, and you see what we find before we go further.
Steepness and reach
A steep slope or a narrow side yard slows the crew and may call for added safety equipment.

Storm repair questions we often get

Should I call my insurance company before you inspect?
No need. Many homeowners have us check first to see if the damage is large enough to claim. You get our photos and written findings to share with your insurer, and filing is up to you.
Can you work with my adjuster?
Yes. We work directly with your insurance adjuster, hand over our photos and can join them on the roof so nothing gets overlooked. Coverage is the adjuster's call, but we make sure they see everything.
Will a repair do, or will I need a new roof?
When the rest of the roof is sound, most storm damage can be repaired. On an older roof with damage everywhere, a repair may not last, and we'll explain the reasons. You hear our honest opinion and you make the choice.
The roof looks fine from the ground. Could it still be damaged?
Yes, and it happens a lot, mostly with wind. Broken shingle seals and cracked tiles are tough to see from below. A free inspection answers it either way.
Do you cover towns outside Hawaiian Gardens?
We do. Besides Hawaiian Gardens, we repair storm damage in Lakewood, Cerritos, Artesia, Cypress and the other towns on our Service Areas page.

Storm just passed through? We'll come check

We'll go over your roof from edge to ridge, show you photos of anything we find and leave a free written estimate for the repair. No pressure, just an honest answer about your roof.
